Ken Rubin’s Resume

PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY

Most of my career has been spent in retail management with well-known national companies, as well as owning several retail franchises. The driving force that motivated me to make a career out of retail leadership/management was: during my highschool years working in my father’s store in a very small town, observing and being inspired by him overcoming the challenges in being successful competing with Walmart and several other “big box” retailers.

His passion for providing exceptional customer service, building a team of employees who shared his vision, using creative forward-thinking marketing/sales promotions and community involvement were areas of business that excited and felt natural to me.

PROFESSIONAL/LEADERSHIP BELIEFS

People don’t care what you know until they know that you care.

Recognize effort. Reward results.

Celebrating small successes will lead to much larger successes.

A person won’t reach their full potential unless they have challenging, but realistic written goals, action steps, target dates, and are held accountable for their action steps.

People are far greater than any job they ever get to do. A good leader will have the skills and desire to bring out the very best in their team-members.

Employees should never be accepted for who they are, but for what they are capable of becoming. A leader’s responsibility is to help them become that.

Always look first for what’s being done right and acknowledge it.
